Ceremony on the ocean lawn. Reception in the Great Hall.
What worked:
Ocean behind the arbor. Every vow shot has the harbor in it.
Dusty blue bridesmaids. The color sits right against grey stone and green garden.
10 minutes at golden hour. Sunset is around 8 pm in August, so we took the couple out of the reception for a few quick portraits by the water.
Our own lights in the Great Hall. Cake cutting and the first dance stay sharp and true to color.
The next one looks completely different. Same castle, colder season.
Cool Season: Stone and Candlelight
Bare trees, grey sky, stone everywhere. Moodier than summer, and some of our favorite portraits.
Overcast light. No squinting, and the stone texture shows in every shot.
The arched balcony. Shot from below, it looks like somewhere in Europe.
Wind off the harbor. One gust and the cathedral veil did the rest.
Ceremony in the Great Hall. Candles, white florals, an entrance down the stone staircase.
Photographer's note: the Great Hall is dark, especially with early winter sunsets. We bring our own lights, so the candlelight stays and faces stay bright.

Where Do You Get Ready for a Hammond Castle Wedding?
Most couples get ready at a hotel, then drive over. That eats into portrait time.

Tip: use the early arrival for portraits. It is the quietest part of the day.
